VATICAN CITY (CBS St. Louis) — The Vatican’s chief justice feels that President Barack Obama’s policies have been hostile toward Christians.

In an interview with Polonia Christiana magazine –and transcribed by Life Site News — Cardinal Raymond Burke said that Obama “promotes anti-life and anti-family policies.”

“It is true that the policies of the president of the United States have become progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization. He appears to be a totally secularized man who aggressively promotes anti-life and anti-family policies,” Burke told the magazine.

The former archbishop of St. Louis stated that Obama is trying to “restrict” religion.

“Now he wants to restrict the exercise of the freedom of religion to freedom of worship, that is, he holds that one is free to act according to his conscience within the confines of his place of worship but that, once the person leaves the place of worship, the government can constrain him to act against his rightly-formed conscience, even in the most serious of moral questions,” Burke said.

Burke took a swipe against Obama’s Affordable Care Act over the law’s birth control mandate, saying “such policies would have been unimaginable in the United States even 40 years ago.”

“In a democracy, such a lack of awareness is deadly,” Burke told the magazine. “It leads to the loss of the freedom which a democratic government exists to protect. It is my hope that more and more of my fellow citizens, as they realize what is happening, will insist on electing leaders who respect the truth of the moral law as it is respected in the founding principles of our nation.”

Burke also believes there is hope that abortion will be overturned in the U.S.

“There is hope that the evil anti-life laws of the United States can be overthrown and that the anti-life movement which urges yet more of such legislation can be resisted,” Burke said. “The pro-life movement in the United States has been working since 1973 to reverse the unjust decision of the Supreme Court which struck down state laws prohibiting procured abortion. It is true that the Supreme Court decision stands, but it is also true that the pro-life movement has grown ever stronger in the United States, that is, that more and more citizens, especially young citizens, have been awakened to the truth about the grave evil of procured abortion.”
Pope Francis removed Burke from the Congregation for Bishops last December.
Obama will be meeting Pope Francis for the first time at the Vatican on Thursday.

Some defend policy as “efficient” means of recycling

Aborted and miscarried babies are being incinerated as “clinical waste,” with some being used to power hospitals in the UK, a policy that some have defended as an efficient means of sustainable recycling.

“Ten NHS trusts have admitted burning foetal remains alongside other rubbish while two others used the bodies in ‘waste-to-energy’ plants which generate power for heat,” reports the Telegraph. The revelations emerged as a result of a Channel 4 Dispatches program set to be broadcast in the UK tonight which found that more than 15,000 babies were incinerated.

The program also unveiled the fact that parents who lost babies were being treated without compassion and were not properly consulted on what would happen to their child’s remains.

Following the revelations, the Department of Health slapped an instant ban on the policy, with health minister Dr Dan Poulter labeling it “totally unacceptable.”

The story represents an alarming fusion of the lunacy of pro-abortion and global warming alarmist sentiment, with some even taking to Twitter to express support for the practice as an “efficient and effective” means of recycling.

Another respondent to the Telegraph story remarked, “If the unwanted remains can be used for a worthwhile purpose, such as heat generation, then they should be. That’s the very essence of sustainability,” characterizing the aborted baby as “unwanted medical waste”.
A respondent to this Infowars story asserted, “I don’t get what the problem is; it’s recycling and more economical than using, say, nuclear power or electricity.”

Many respondents to the Telegraph story made the point that the policy of burning babies is not surprising given that the practice of abortion itself is treated with such carefree abandon.

“Once people decide that unborn children are less than human what do you expect,” said one.
The revelations are certain to bolster arguments that the NHS should be privatized. Many in Britain defend government run health care with something approaching religious fervor, seemingly unaware of the fact that it is not free and costs around £1000 ($1700) in annual taxes on a regular salary.

Critics see pendant as fashion statement that glorifies abortion

An organization that helps poor women pay for abortions has stoked controversy by offering a ‘coat hanger’ pendant to contributors who donate $10 or more a month for women in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia to terminate their pregnancies.

Image: Pro-Abortion Pendant.

The D.C. Abortion Fund (DCAF) is offering the coat hanger pendant to supporters “as a token of our thanks.” The image is synonymous with the practice of self-induced abortion, where a coat hanger is inserted into the uterus through the cervix to rip the foetus apart.

After critics slammed the coat hanger pendant as insensitive, the group was forced to release a statement on its website today explaining the use of the symbol as “nothing new or even particularly newsworthy.”

The group asserts that, “The coat hanger has long been a symbol of the reproductive justice movement,” and claims that it was, “surprised by the conservative media’s ignorance of the history of the coat hanger’s symbolism.”

However, others see the pendant as a fashion statement that actually glorifies abortion.

“I honestly can’t believe that someone would celebrate the destruction of babies (boys, and YES millions of girls) as a fashion statement for feminists,” wrote Bristol Palin, daughter of Governor Sarah Palin.

“You know the phrase “they wear their heart of their sleeves?” Well, I guess DC feminists love to wear death on their necks,” she added.

Some feminists have adopted the coat hanger symbol as a “pro-choice” tattoo, while it is also a fairly common sight at pro-abortion rallies.

Instead of treating the issue of abortion with the sensitivity it undoubtedly demands, many feminists have crossed the line by brazenly celebrating abortion as if it was something to be proud of.

In 2004, abortion advocate and author Jennifer Baumgardner launched the “I Had an Abortion” project in order to encourage women who had terminated pregnancies to embrace their decision. In a promotional stunt for the campaign, feminist Gloria Steinem wore a t-shirt which read, “I had an abortion” while adopting a smiling, celebratory pose.

NYC: More Black Babies Killed by Abortion Than Born

In 2012, there were more black babies killed by abortion (31,328) in New York City than were born there (24,758), and the black children killed comprised 42.4% of the total number of abortions in the Big Apple, according to a report by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

The report is entitled, Summary of Vital Statistics 2012 The City of New York, Pregnancy Outcomes, and was prepared by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of Vital Statistics. (See Pregnancy Outcomes NYC Health 2012.pdf)

Table 1 of the report presents the total number of live births, spontaneous terminations (miscarriages), and induced terminations (abortions) for women in different age brackets between 15 and 49 years of age. The table also breaks that data down by race – Hispanic, Asian and Pacific Islander, Non-Hispanic White, Non-Hispanic Black – and also by borough of residence: Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island.

The numbers show that in 2012, there were 31,328 induced terminations (abortions) among non-Hispanic black women in New York City. That same year, there were 24,758 live births for non-Hispanic black women in New York City. There were 6,570 more abortions than live births of black children.

The true inspiration for their desire to kill babies has finally emerged.

The true inspiration for their desire to kill babies has finally emerged.

You may have heard that Texas is seeking to outlaw late-termabortions — the kind of abortions that kill a nearly full-grown baby who has eyes, ears, hands, a beating heart and can experience pain. The idea that such pre-born human beings cannot be murdered at will infuriates “pro-choice” abortion activists, and the true inspiration for their desire to kill babies has finally emerged.

A truly bizarre, almost “creepy” video has just surfaced, revealing pro-abortion activists chanting “Hail Satan” in unison at the Texas State Capitol building. As you can hear for yourself in the video below, people in the background begin chanting, “Hail Satan!” during the speech of a woman who opposes late-term abortions. It appears at 5:12 in the video and continues for many seconds.

The woman giving the speech is saying, “We have doctors down in Houston who are butchering women, butchering children…” and the pro-abortion people raise their voices, singing and chanting, “Hail Satan! Hail Satan!” over and over again.

Later, pro-life advocates sang, “Amazing Grace,” completing the contrast between the abortion foes and the abortion advocates (who literally worship Satan).

Even the Church of Satan was offended

The chanting of “Hail Satan” garnered the attention of the UK Church of Satan which was offended by it. The church actually tweeted, “Unfortunate to see Satan’s name used in such a diabolical manner.”

Apparently the butchering of 20-week old children is too diabolical for even Satan! But it’s considered a “right” by U.S. abortion advocates.

Obviously, not all abortion activists are Satan worshippers, but you’ll notice that none of them have denounced the Satanists, either. By failing to denounce it, they effectively embrace and welcome Satan worship as part of their cause.

Note that Texas is not trying to ban all abortions; it’s only banning abortions after 20 weeks. You truly have to wonder what kind of woman keeps a baby for 20 weeks and then changes her mind and decides to kill it. This isn’t abortion; it’s the murder of a viable, conscious human being that’s more than 50% of the way toward birth (babies are typically born at 38 weeks).

It is very difficult for any rational argument to be made that aborting a baby that’s 20, 25 or 30 weeks old isn’t the killing of a human being.

Post-birth abortions: kill your baby up to age three

But killing babies just before they’re born isn’t quite enough for these Satan worshippers. As has already been revealed, abortion activists want babies to be aborted even after they are born. The practice is called “post-birth abortion” (or simply “infanticide”) and abortion activists want women to have the “right” to kill their children up to age three!

In support of the practice of murdering infants, two bioethicists, Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva, recently authored a paper that was published in the Journal of Medical Ethics entitled, “After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?”

The “scientific” paper actually argues for the killing of babies as follows:

[W]hen circumstances occur after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible. … [W]e propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide,’ to emphasize that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus … rather than to that of a child. Therefore, we claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be.

It also states that, “newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons” and “the fact that both are potential persons is morally irrelevant.”

The conclusion of the paper states, “…if a disease has not been detected during the pregnancy, if something went wrong during the delivery, or if economical, social or psychological circumstances change such that taking care of the offspring becomes an unbearable burden on someone, then [killing the baby is morally justified.]”

In other words, if the parents simply decide they no longer want the baby after it’s born, it is completely justified to kill it. This is the actual position of these abortion advocates.

To make it all easier to understand, the paper should have simply concluded with “Hail Satan.”

Forty two days ago, on March 18, 2013, abortionist Kermit Gosnell went on trial, charged with the grisly murder of multiple babies and a patient. Yet, in the seven weeks that followed, ABC News has permitted no coverage, discussion or mention of the case, not even a single utterance of Dr. Gosnell’s name.

But that’s not due to lack of interest in shocking criminal cases. Over the same 42 days, the Media Research Center found that ABC’s Good Morning America has aired 41 stories — about one per day — on other sensational criminal cases, including the Amanda Knox re-trial and the Jodi Arias case, totaling 109 minutes of coverage.

So it would seem that ABC doesn’t have a problem delivering the gruesome details of murder cases to morning show viewers, suggesting that the networks’ blackout of the Gosnell case has more to do with the negative light it shines on the abortion industry.

Over six weeks of weekday and weekend coverage, GMA featured the Arias case 22 times. Arias is accused of stabbing and slitting the throat of Travis Alexander, her ex-boyfriend. Clearly, the producers and hosts of the morning show aren’t worried about discussing stomach-churning details. The Associated Press recounted the graphic accusations against Gosnell, including testimony by some of the abortion clinic’s workers that they “‘snipped’ babies’ necks after they were born alive to make sure they died.”

Both the Gosnell case and the Amanda Knox retrial deal with brutal murder. Yet, while ABC ignored the wrenching details of dead babies, Ms. Knox’s story received nine segments on GMA. (The remaining ten cases included the Michael Jackson wrongful death suit, a murder trial in Georgia, the murder of a University of Virginia lacrosse player and updates on the case against spree killer James Holmes.)

It’s not as though ABC can claim the Boston bombing as a reason to ignore the Gosnell case. The abortionist’s trial had been ongoing for a full month before the April 15 terrorist attack. Additionally, on the April 17 Good Morning America, as the manhunt for the perpetrators went on, the program featured a full report on the Arias murder.

On April 14, the Washington Post investigated the media’s lack of interest in Gosnell. Representatives for CBS and NBC offered comments about lack of coverage and plans to cover the story in the future. ABC was silent. The Post’s Paul Farhi succinctly summarized, “An ABC News representative, Julie Townsend, declined comment.”

CBS and NBC have both offered minor coverage of the Gosnell case. What is ABC’s excuse for a total blackout? Clearly, the network is interested in criminal cases with shocking, brutal details. Forty one stories over 109 minutes and 26 seconds prove this.

The horrifying details of the Jodi Arias case, the Amanda Knox murder trial and rest are tragic stories with real victims. Their importance should not be downplayed or dismissed as purely sensational. But the lives of innocent babies, allegedly murdered in appalling circumstances, are also significant. Is it too much to ask that ABC’s hosts and producers cover a story, even if it doesn’t match the political agenda of pro-abortion liberals?

An antiabortion group that mounted a six-month undercover investigation has released videos this week that raise questions about what might happen to a baby as a result of an unsuccessful abortion.

One video features a D.C. doctor, Cesare Santangelo, who said that in the unlikely event that an abortion resulted in a live birth, “we would not help it.” Santangelo was answering repeated questions from an undercover operative about what would happen, hypothetically, if she gave birth after an unsuccessful abortion.

In scathing rebuke, judge called decision to limit access “politically motivated, scientifically unjustified.”

“I mean, technically, you know, legally, we would be obligated to help it, you know, to survive, but . . . it probably wouldn’t,” Santangelo is shown telling the woman, who was 24 weeks pregnant. “It’s all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point.”

Live Action president Lila Rose said the group’s videos expose “truly gruesome, illegal and inhuman practices.” She defended the tactics, saying undercover investigations are a powerful method to expose abuses.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Santangelo said he was trying to reassure the woman, who turned out to be an undercover operative of the group, Live Action. In reality, he said, he would call 9-1-1. But he said he stands by what he said on tape.

“What I said is, basically I wouldn’t do anything extraordinary,” he said Saturday. “We would call EMS. We would call 9-1-1. But I wouldn’t do intubation or anything. . . . You let nature take its course.”

The videos do not depict Santangelo doing anything illegal. Live Action provided an advance copy of the video, and other extended footage of the D.C. clinic encounter, to The Post on the condition that it not be published before Monday. Also on the extended tape is a nurse saying unequivocally that the clinic would take any live birth to a hospital. Under D.C. law, it is generally permissible for one party to a conversation to record it without consent.

Live Action plans to release more videos as part of a campaign targeting clinics that perform abortions late in pregnancy, also known as “late-term” abortions. It claims that the videos show that abortion doctors are willing to kill babies in violation of the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002, which requires them to try to save a child born during a failed abortion using the same measures used in miscarriages or preterm births at the same stage of pregnancy.

No authorities have accused Santangelo of violating the law. His attorney, Alfred F. Belcuore, said the doctor practices medicine in full compliance with laws in the District of Columbia. In a statement, he criticized the recording of “a private exchange between a physician and his patient” and their release as an “outrageous intrusion upon the doctor-patient relationship.”

Another video released Sunday shows an unidentified worker in the Bronx saying the clinic would put the baby in a jar of “solution” that would cause it to stop breathing. Marjana Banzil, director of the Bronx clinic, said Friday she had not viewed the video but that any employee who would say such a thing was misinformed.
